NIC Watcher overview
Version 2.1 released at 05/18/2022
Both computer specialists and regular users sometimes encounter the issue that the computer’s hardware doesn’t function correctly. As per Murphy’s laws, this usually happens at the most inconvenient times. It’s not always convenient to interrupt your work and troubleshoot these devices. One such device, the malfunction of which can result in data loss, is the Network Interface Card, abbreviated as NIC.
NIC Watcher is a compact Windows 11 and Windows 10 sidebar gadget designed to safeguard your data from potential damage or loss. This tool efficiently provides connection status information, allowing you to quickly assess the condition of your pre-specified NIC, whether it’s functioning as expected or encountering issues.
For the sake of convenience, you have the option to configure NIC Watcher not only to display a visual warning, but also to play specific sounds when the NIC experiences issues. Additionally, you can assign custom notification sounds to other events, like establishing a new connection or changes in the connection status. You can choose to use the default sound or select an alternative sound in WAV format to play when the alarm is triggered.
The user is able to adjust the alert time, which is measured in seconds. Please exercise caution when entering very high values in the time field. In any case, you can stop the sound signal by clicking on the stop icon.
Beforehand, you need to configure NIC Watcher. The gadget can be set up to monitor up to eight controllers simultaneously, displaying a separate instance for each one. This implies that you must launch a new NIC Watcher gadget for each connected network adapter. For added convenience, you can lock a selected NIC for future use after the next shutdown. Furthermore, NIC Watcher can also keep an eye on the status of the wireless connection provided by a router.
Give our Connection Watcher gadget a try to monitor your Internet connection.
